S E38: Episode 38 | ADHD-Friendly Advent Day 15

December 14, 2025 ·

Today, we’re diving into Day 15 of our ADHD Friendly Advent study, where the homework is delightfully light – just listen to this week’s song, “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” If you’re following along, you might have noticed a quirky trend: all three songs we’ve chosen this Advent start with the letter “O.” I promise I didn’t plan it that way, but hey, it gives us a fun little theme! I’m particularly fond of the Vineyard music version; it just hits me right in the feels and makes it feel like Christmas. So, while you might think you know the song by heart, I really encourage you to take a moment to listen closely to the lyrics and let their meaning sink in. Don’t forget to tag a friend, download the free workbook linked in my profile, and let’s keep this Advent journey going together!

It's day 15 of Advent and today the homework is very minimal.

Speaker A: 00:00:03

If you have been following along our ADHD Friendly Advent study, you know that this is week three that we are going into and on Sundays we just have one piece of homework and that's to listen to the song for the week.

Speaker A: 00:00:16

So the song for this week is oh Little Town of Bethlehem.

Speaker A: 00:00:19

And no, I did not initially go into this choosing songs for all three weeks so far at Advent that start with just the word O.

Speaker A: 00:00:26

A word, a letter I don't really know but like old timey English would just put O.

Speaker A: 00:00:31

And so yeah, all three songs so far that we have done have started with O.

Speaker A: 00:00:35

But I really like the Vineyard music version.

Speaker A: 00:00:38

That is the one that I grew up with.

Speaker A: 00:00:39

It just very much feels like Christmas to me.

Speaker A: 00:00:41

Shane and Shane has a really great version.

Speaker A: 00:00:44

Whatever version you would like.

Speaker A: 00:00:45

I would like to encourage you today to go and listen to oh Little Town of Bethlehem while looking at the lyrics and because it's so easy to go yeah, I've heard this.

Speaker A: 00:00:53

I can recite this from memory.

Speaker A: 00:00:55

I've heard this my whole life, blah blah blah.

Speaker A: 00:00:56

But actually digging into it is quite a bit different.

Speaker A: 00:00:59

So go listen to A Little town of Bethlehem.

Speaker A: 00:01:01

Make sure you follow tag a friend, send this to a friend and follow my podcast at the link in my profile so that you get updated on everything.

Speaker A: 00:01:09

Oh and make sure you download the workbook.

Speaker A: 00:01:11

There is a free workbook that I have created that is at the link in my profile as well.

Speaker A: 00:01:15

Follow along and I will see you tomorrow.

Speaker A: 00:01:17

Bye.

Meet Rachel

Meet Rachel
hello!

Hi! I'm Rachel. I'm a saved-and-redeemed Jesus lover, mama to one bio and two step kiddos, business owner, enneagram 7, and creative enthusiast. My motherhood journey abruptly became single motherhood when my son was 4 months old. It's been the hardest yet most fulfilling experience I've ever had. Motherhood, while beautiful, is often brutal, and single motherhood is in a league of its own. Whether you're a single mother by choice or by force, whether you're already on your own with your kiddos, sharing a home with a distant or absent parent, or gearing up to take on the challenge of single motherhood in the future, this is a space for you. You'll find resources on everything from navigating toxic relationships to creating your first budget to how to pursue self-employment for extra cash. My email inbox is always open if you have questions or need encouragement: rachel@rachelgrit.com You are so welcome here, sister.

My 4 favorite tools for studying the bible (all li My 4 favorite tools for studying the bible (all linked in my Amazon storefront!):
✨Wide margin bible - I use the NLT because I like the wide margins and white pages. I use multiple translations for study but like this format for notetaking and bible journaling.
✨Pilot fine-point pens - these are PERFECT for making clean, legible notes in even the tiniest of spaces. I fell in love with these while living in Guatemala and STILL special order them!
✨Mildliner highlighters - these are the BEST. They have all kinds of lovely, soft colors that look beautiful on the page. I have a whole color-coding system using these - details on my Youtube channel!
✨Dot-grid journal - I adore dot grid because it makes everything from note-taking to drawing easier. I use this as my prayer journal, notebook, regular journal ... just about everything.

What are your favorite tools to use? I'm always on the hunt for new ones!
